Dear members of Teiresias, 

As we are slowly progressing into the colder months of the year, we hope you are making the most of the Dutch autumn. Drinking hot cocoa, reading a lot of books and taking a long walk at the Utrechtste Heuvelrug are amongst our recommendations. However, if you are looking for inspiration for more fun and educational activities, read along.  

Film screening of The Name of The Rose (1986) 

Firstly, we would like to thank all those who attended the viewing of The Name of the Rose last Wednesday! We are very grateful for the valuable insights regarding the historical accuracy and context of both the 1980 book and the 1986 film that Dr. Anna Adamska provided us with. Interklassiek Party ThuSeadides on Thursday, November 11 from 20:00 

Secondly, we are happy to announce that after a long time the Interklassiek Party will take place again on Thursday the 11th of November from 20:00 at U-BAR. The theme of the party is ‘ThuSeadides’, so dress up as your favourite classical sea creature! If you want to purchase at ticket (à €4,50) please send an e-mail to teiresias.uu@gmail.com. We hope to see you there! Do remember; in line with government policy you will have to provide the staff of U-BAR with a QR-code (either via the CoronaCheck-app or on paper) to prove that you have been vaccinated, you have had Covid or that you have recently tested negative for Covid. 

Drinks at Café de Stadsgenoot on Thursday, November 18 from 20:00

Thirdly, we would like to invite you to our monthly drinks at Cafe de Stadsgenoot on Thursday, November 18 from 20:00. From December onwards the monthy drinks will be held on the first Thursday of the month. Please note; You are required to show a QR-code to enter Café de Stadsgenoot.  

Symposium Jonge Classici on Friday November 19 and Saturday November 20

Furthermore, Sophia Aeterna and Sodalicium will be organising a symposium for young classicists on Friday November 19 and Saturday November 20 in Nijmegen. The topic of the symposium will be Variae Viae ad Veritatem, travelling within and to Antiquity. Lectures will be given by amongst others Patrick Lateur, Christian Kicken and Louis Verreth. New Discoveries Seminar on Thursday, November 25 at 16:00

Thirdly, we would like to draw your attention to the upcoming New Discoveries Seminar on November 25th. Dr. Saskia Stevens from Utrecht University will be giving a lecture with the title: What the Romans did for us? (Re)Constructing the Limes and the Roman Netherlands.
