October 2020

Dear Teiresians,

We hope you are all in good health and adapting well to life in times of COVID-19. As always, Teiresias will organise a number of fun and educational events this month to offer you some relief from the routine of day-to-day life. As well as the already announced PhD-event, the annual Interklassieke Pubquiz and a fascinating webinar are on the programme.

PhD-event

Join us for the event on October 15, 2020 from 15:00-17:00 at Israëlslaan 118. Medieval/Insular rooms: 1.05 & 1.06. Ancient rooms: 1.07 & 1.12. This is an informal event where you can ask current PhD candidates your questions and hear about their research. Please let us know if you would like to attend by sending an email to onderwijscommissie.teiresias@gmail.com! You can also check out the event on Facebook: https://fb.me/e/1zvecSEMU.

Interklassieke Pubquiz

On October 30th, starting at 20:00, the annual interklassieke pubquiz will take place! The event will be hosted online. It is looking to be a very scary edition of the pubquiz this year, as the theme will be Halloween! Make sure you read up on the scariest mythological monsters and the most gruesome stories in history! For more info, please see the flyer for the event or the Facebook page https://fb.me/e/dfiE3mK62.

Webinar

November 11-13, the webinar Re-Rolling the Past: Representations and Reinterpretations of Antiquity in Analog and Digital Games will take place. This is an online conference, organised by New York University, inspired by the recent surge in research on the influence of the past in online and analog games. If you would like to join this webinar, please sign up using the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/re-rolling-the-past-representations-and-reinterpretations-of-antiquity-registration-123193235283

Information on the exact programme of the three days can be found here: https://isaw.nyu.edu/events/re-rolling-the-past-day-1

We hope to brighten your month in these times with our educational and fun events and look forward to seeing you all there (or on our screens).

Valete, in name of the board,

Thomas van Tussenbroek
