Dear Teiresians,

First of all, we would like to welcome our new members, from the bachelor’s as well as our master’s programme! We have been working on the first events of this academic year, but before I tell you all about those, a few reminders for our new members and anyone who missed our last emails.

In previous years, Teiresias Student Association has been ancient history oriented and focused on providing events and education geared towards ancient historians. We would like to share with you the positive announcement that Teiresias is expanding its scope, events, and educational opportunities to happily welcome and include all RMA master’s students and all bachelor students interested in Renaissance, Medieval, Insular, and Ancient studies. This means extending the monthly drinks invitation to the above-mentioned students as well as providing a few events and educational related activities that are also inclusive of medieval and renaissance periods. We welcome you all!

Through our partnership with Athenaeum Bookstore located in Amsterdam, we have arranged a discount on study related books. Events

The first event of this academic year will be a movie night! We are working on securing a room at the university to host this event. We hope to inform you in the following days about the location. If we are not allowed to host at the university, we will host it as we did last year, in the form of a Netflix Party. It will be held on the 22nd of September, the movie we will be watching is Monty Python & the Holy Grail!

On Thursday October 1st our first monthly borrel of the year will be held in Cafe de Stadsgenoot! We are very happy to be able to meet everyone face-to-face again, but of course there are university and RIVM rules to abide by. At the bottom of this newsletter you will find them explained shortly.

In October, date to be announced, we will organise a PhD event. For this event we are also speaking to the university about getting a venue, so information on the exact date and location will follow! Attached you will find the flyer for this event, with information on the programme for the evening!

Info for Borrel at Cafe de Stadsgenoot

We are happy to announce the startup of our monthly borrels at Stadgenoot, which will be the first Thursday of every month at 20:00. Please join us on October 1!

Due to COVID-19, there are regulations that must be adhered to at all times.

Four people maximum to a table

No changing seats or tables

No standing mingling inside

You will be asked to leave, if you cannot adhere to these rules.

Please follow the rules so we can continue to have our monthly borrels.

After 23:00, this is no longer a Teiresias event and the board members will leave the premises. We have a selected amount of seats reserved, so we suggest that you arrive timely, or as close to 20:00, to enjoy the full amount of time allotted with the group.

Please remember to always maintain a 1,5 meter from others unless you are of the same household.
