Movie Night: The Name of the Rose with Dr. Anna Adamska
“Books are not made to be believed, but to be subjected to inquiry. When we consider a book, we mustn’t ask ourselves what it says but what it means…”
The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco is a classic, as is the 1986 film adaptation starring the eternal Sean Connery. A Medievalist himself, Eco imbued his historical mystery novel with not just fun but perhaps, even, facts. Join us on Wednesday November 3rd, 18:00 – 21:00 in Drift 21, room 1.09, as we subject The Name of the Rose (1986) to inquiry with Dr. Anna Adamska and find out what it tells us about medieval literature and what it could mean to us today.
