Dear members of Teiresias,

The end of the academic year is fast approaching! Just a little while longer and that thesis or large research paper will be done! Whether you will be celebrating with friends and family in Utrecht or anywhere else in the Netherlands or abroad, we want to let you know that we are proud of you. The past year has been stressful for many students academically, socially, financially, and mental health-wise. Thus, we encourage you to let yourself get some rest this summer, you deserve it! We hope to welcome many of you back in September and for those graduating: we wish you the best of luck in your professional/academic career and/or further studies. For now, we would like to update you on this year’s last Teiresias activities.

Drinks at Café de Stadsgenoot on Thursday 9 June from 20:00 

Firstly, we would like to invite you to the last of this year’s monthly drinks at Café de Stadsgenoot on Thursday, June 9 from 20:00. The first drink will be free! We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Thesis Writing Session 8 June cancelled

Secondly, because of the RMA midterm meeting taking place on June 8, the Thesis Writing Session will unfortunately be cancelled. If you would like to have an (additional/replacement) Thesis Writing Session on June 15 instead, please let our Education Committee know by sending an e-mail to onderwijscommissie.teiresias@gmail.com.

Sint-Maarten Festival on 3 and 4 July 2022 (Dutch only) 

Ter gelegenheid van het 900-jarig bestaan van de stad Utrecht organiseert de Universiteit Utrecht een festival rond het zomerfeest van Sint-Maarten op 3 en 4 juli 2022. Dit feest is bij het grote publiek minder bekend dan 11 november maar werd in de middeleeuwen uitbundig gevierd om de band tussen de stedelijke gemeenschap en de schutspatroon te markeren. Met als thema ‘Het wonder van Sint-Maarten – de gelukkige stad’ stelt het festival deze zomer de betekenis van Sint-Maarten voor de inwoners van Utrecht centraal, in de Middeleeuwen en nu. Initiatiefnemer is Sint-Maarten-kenner prof. dr. Els Rose. Het programma omvat middeleeuwse en nieuwe muziek uitgevoerd door het Gregoriaans Koor Utrecht en door Utrechtse basisschoolleerlingen, een tentoonstelling in de Domkerk (10 juni t/m 11 augustus), gemaakt door o.a. door RMA Insular/Medieval Studies-studenten Hanna Muller en Jackie Burema, een symposium en een documentaire.
