Beste Teiresianen,
we hopen dat jullie ook alweer het derde blok heelhuids zijn doorgekomen of bezig zijn met de laatste loodjes! Nu de stress van de deadlines weer wat is afgenomen of bijna voorbij is hebben we voor de komende weken weer een aantal leuke en mooie evenementen op de planning staan! Ook lijkt het er op dit moment op dat de reiscommissie toch een hele leuke trip in eigen land kan gaan organiseren! 

New Discoveries Seminar

De eerder aangekondigde seminarreeks zal komend blok van start gaan! We zijn druk bezig om te kijken of er in samenwerking met OIKOS ook ECTS verbonden kunnen worden aan het bijwonen van de seminars met wat voorbereidingswerk! Elke drie weken zal een toonaangevende wetenschapper of historicus ons komen vertellen over zijn of haar werk. Deze seminarreeks wordt mede georganiseerd door het departement en meer info is te vinden op https://newdiscoveries.sites.uu.nl/.

6 mei, Interklassiek Symposium

Het jaarlijkse Interklassiek symposium zal dit jaar online gehouden worden. De sprekers zullen allen een korte lezing houden met als overkoepelend thema “Believing Myth”. Namens Utrecht zal onze eigen dr. Janric van Rookhuijzen gaan spreken over de mythe van Athena & Poseidon, die streden om de hegemonie over Athene! Reiscommissie Stadswandeling

Komende maand, op 29 mei, neemt de reiscommissie jullie mee op een stadswandeling door Utrecht. In kleine groepjes, vergezeld door een docent, komen we langs de verborgen parels uit de geschiedenis van Utrecht. Onze docenten zullen ons meer vertellen over onze interessante stad, hopelijk fysiek en anders met een video. De wandeling zal ongeveer van 13:00 tot 16:00 duren en als de corona maatregelen het toelaten eindigen in een borrel! Als je enthousiast bent geworden kan je om 12:00 al komen en samen met ons lunchen (wie houdt er nou niet van een broodje Mario?). De activiteit is geheel GRATIS, maar we willen graag weten op hoeveel mensen we kunnen rekenen, dus stuur even een mailtje als je komt op reiscommissie.teiresias@outlook.com!

Bestuursvacatures

We willen jullie eraan herinneren dat we op zoek zijn naar mensen die de bestuursfuncties volgend jaar willen gaan invullen en leiding willen gaan geven aan onze mooie vereniging! Als dit je wat lijkt, stuur ons een mailtje of kijk op instagram voor alle verschillende functies die je kunt gaan doen!

Dear Teiresians,
We hope you have all survived the third block of classes or are busy finishing your final assignments! Now that the stress of deadlines past is somewhat subsiding, we have a number of fun and interesting events planned for you! One of these is the city walk by our very own travelcommittee, which we hope will be the first physical event of the year!

New Discoveries Seminar

These seminars we have shared with you before are on for block 4! We are working hard to see whether we can also work with OIKOS to make it an event where you can earn ECTS as well! Every three weeks a scientist or historian will tell us of his or her groundbreaking work! These seminars are organised by the department as well, more information can be found on https://newdiscoveries.sites.uu.nl/.

6th of May, Interklassiek Symposium

Our annual Interklassiek symposium will be held online this year. A number of great speakers have already confirmed and will be presenting on the topic of “Believing Myth”. More information on the speakers can be found on the flyer accompanying this email! From Utrecht, our very own dr. Janric van Rookhuijzen will be giving a very interesting lecture on the myth of Athena & Poseidon, who struggled for hegemony over Athens. Travel Committee City Walk

Next month, May 29th, the Travelcommittee will take you on a city walk through Utrecht. In small groups, each accompanied by a teacher, we will come across the secret pearls of the history of Utrecht. Our teachers will tell us more about our interesting city, either in real life or through a video. The walk will take from around 13:00-16:00 and will hopefully if the covid-measures allow it, end in an actual borrel! If you’re enthusiastic you can come around 12:00 and get lunch with us (who doesn’t like a broodje Mario?). The activity is FREE of charge, but we would like to know whether you’d be interested so please shoot us a message at reiscommissie.teiresias@outlook.com.
