Beste Teiresianen,

We hopen dat jullie een fijne jaarwisseling en vrije dagen achter de rug hebben en het afronden van blok 2 soepel verloopt. We proberen ondanks de nog strengere maatregelen voor de nodige afleiding te zorgen de komende weken.

Maskers

We hebben voor alle leden een gratis masker, dat inmiddels is binnengekomen! We zijn bezig om de maskers bij degenen te krijgen die ons hebben laten weten dat ze er een willen. Mocht je er ook een willen, laat het een van de bestuursleden weten!

Teiresias ALV

Teams link voor de ALV Donderdag 28 januari 2021 van 20:00 tot 21:30. Namens het bestuur van Teiresias willen we jullie graag uitnodigen voor de algemene ledenvergadering om het afgelopen jaar te bespreken en vooruit te kijken naar komend jaar.

Teiresias Contributie Herinnering

Elke februari innen we de contributie bij leden van Teiresias. We willen jullie vriendelijk verzoeken om de contributie van €12,50 te betalen om lid te blijven van Teiresias. Je kunt dit bedrag direct op onze rekening storten, of wachten op de email met de directe link om te betalen die we volgende week zullen versturen. Normaal gesproken wordt de contributie gebruikt voor evenementen zoals filmavonden, eten en drinken, museum tours, fietstours, symposia en trips/reizen. De contributie is dit jaar onmisbaar geweest om ook in tijden van corona de vereniging voort te kunnen zetten, in de vorm van filmavonden, een PhD evenement, eten, online platform lidmaatschap om symposia bij te kunnen wonen, cadeautjes voor online lezingen, prijzen voor de quizzen en onze Teiresias mondmaskers!

Romans Along the Rhine – Online Tour van het Rijksmuseum van Oudheden 

Teams Op donderdag 4 februari 2021 om 17:00 zal Dr. Ortal-Paz Saar ons meenemen op een online tour van de nieuwe tentoonstelling ‘Romans Along the Rhine’ in het Rijksmuseum van Oudheden. Kom ook mee met onze geweldige reisleider en ontdek een nieuwe manier om de Romeinen in ons land te bekijken!

Killers and Criminals in the Ancient World – online Symposium 

Teams Donderdag 18 februari 2021 van 15:30 tot 19:00. Criminelen, moordenaars en dieven hebben in de oudheid invloed gehad op religie, culten, begrafenisrituelen, de wet, migratie en meer. Het Romeinse Rijk en Griekenland waren vol met criminaliteit, als je weet waar je moet kijken. Het symposium dit jaar zal de culturele en historische context van criminelen in de oudheid beschouwen en hoe we hier nog steeds een link mee hebben door criminaliteit in het heden.

Het online symposium zal een internationaal karakter hebben met sprekers van universiteiten uit Engeland, de Verenigde Staten en Nederland. Ze zullen spreken over seriemoordenaars, vloektabletten en literatuur. Voor elk wat wils! We hopen jullie allemaal te zien bij het jaarlijkse symposium!

Masks

For all our members, a free mask is available. We are trying to get them to those of you who already let us know they wanted one. If you want one as well, please let one of the board members know!

Teiresias Student Dues Reminder

Every February we collect dues from members to be a part of Teiresias. We kindly ask you to pay your dues of €12.50 to remain a loyal member of Teiresias. You can either pay us directly via our IBAN, or next month we will send you an email with a direct link to pay us. In normal times, your dues have gone towards events: movie nights, food and beverages, museum tours, bike tours, symposiums, lecture gifts, trips and traveling, etc. Your dues have allowed us to continue under pandemic times, including a movie night, PhD event, food, online platform subscription for events, online lecture gifts, online gifts for winners of events, and cool Teiresias logo masks!

Romans Along the Rhine – Online Exhibition Tour 

Join us on MS Teams Thursday, February 4, 2021 @ 17:00, where Dr. Ortal-Paz Saar will take us through an online tour of the Romans Along the Rhine exhibition hosted at the Rijksmuseum Van Oudheden in Leiden. Join us online for fun with an awesome tour guide and a new way of exploring the ‘Romans Along the Rhine’.

Killers and Criminals in the Ancient World – online Symposium 

Join us on MS Teams, Thursday, February 18, 2021 15:30 – 19:00. Criminals, killers, and thieves had an impact on ancient religious beliefs, cult practices, burial rituals, the law, migration, and more. Ancient Rome and Greece are full of crime in antiquity, you just have to know where to look. The symposium this year will be examining the cultural and historical context of criminals, killers, and thieves in the ancient world and how we as a culture can still find a connection to the past with these crimes today.

This online symposium will have an international character with speakers from universities from England, the United States, and the Netherlands. They will speak about serial killers, curse tablets, and literature. Therefore, there will be something for everyone. We hope to see you all at this year’s symposium!
